Privacy policy
Last updated November 4, 2026Rondo shows the contacts already on your iPhone and never uploads them. It sends anonymous usage data so we can see which features help.
The short version
Rondo reads and saves your contacts in Apple Contacts, on your iPhone. Names, numbers, emails, addresses, photos and everything else about the people in your address book stay there. We never receive them and can't see them. Rondo sends anonymous usage data, such as "a card was pulled out" or "the Rondo Pro screen was opened", so we can see which features help and fix what doesn't. That data isn't linked to you, never includes anything about your contacts, and isn't used for advertising. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Who we are
Rondo is made by Dylan Bono ("we", "us"). If you have a question about this policy, email dylan@dylanbono.com.
Your contacts
With your permission, Rondo reads the contacts in Apple Contacts to type them onto cards. When you add, edit or delete someone, or change their photo, Rondo saves that change to Apple Contacts, and Apple keeps it in sync with your other devices if you use iCloud Contacts. You can allow all of your contacts or only the ones you choose, and change that anytime in Settings › Apps › Rondo › Contacts.
Your contacts are read and saved on your iPhone only. Rondo never sends them to us or anyone else.
Camera and photos
- Scanning a business card (Rondo Pro) uses the camera. The text on the card is read on your iPhone with Apple's built-in text recognition and typed onto a new card for you to check. The image isn't uploaded or kept.
- Contact photos come from your photo library, through Apple's photo picker, which only gives Rondo the photo you choose. The photo is saved to that contact in Apple Contacts.
Widgets
If you star cards and add Rondo's widgets to your Home Screen, Rondo shares what's typed on those people's cards (name, company, number and email) and their photos with the widgets so they can show them. That stays on your iPhone.
Anonymous usage data
To understand how Rondo is used, the app sends a small set of anonymous events to PostHog, our analytics provider. Each event says what happened in the app, for example:
- The app was opened, with whether Rondo can see all, some or none of your contacts, and the address book's size as a rough range (such as "250–999"), never the exact number
- A first-launch page was viewed, or first launch was finished
- A card was pulled out, a search was used, or a call, message, video call or email was started from a card. Not who it was or what you searched for
- A card was added, edited or deleted, a photo was changed, or a card was starred. Not what was in it
- A finish was chosen for the desk, stand or cards
- The Rondo Pro screen was opened and from where, and whether a purchase was completed, cancelled or restored
- A widget was tapped, and which widget sizes are on your Home Screen
Events also include the app version, the iOS version, whether the device is an iPhone or iPad, and whether Rondo Pro is unlocked. They're tied to a random number created when Rondo is installed, not to you. This number resets if you delete and reinstall the app.
Usage data never includes names, numbers, emails, addresses, photos, notes, search text or anything else from your contacts, and never includes your Apple Account or email. We don't create a profile of you, combine this data with data from other apps or websites, or use it for advertising. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.
When the app sends events, PostHog receives your device's IP address as part of the network connection. Rondo asks PostHog not to look up a location from it, and we don't use it to identify you.
Device backups
Your contacts live in Apple Contacts, so they're backed up and synced the way Apple Contacts is. Rondo's own settings, such as your finish and starred cards, may be included in your iCloud or computer backup. Apple handles those backups under its own privacy policy.
What Rondo doesn't do
- Rondo doesn't require an account or ask for your email.
- Rondo doesn't upload your contacts or photos.
- Rondo has no advertising and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
- Rondo doesn't sell, rent or share your information with anyone.
- Rondo doesn't access your location or microphone.
Purchases
Rondo Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple, and can be shared through Family Sharing. We don't receive your name, payment details or Apple Account information. Apple may give us anonymous, combined sales reports, and Rondo's anonymous usage data records whether a purchase was completed.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don't identify you, and you can turn them off anytime in Settings.
This website
This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. It's hosted on Firebase Hosting and uses Google Fonts, both run by Google. To deliver the pages, Google may process technical information such as your IP address and browser type under Google's privacy policy.
Children
Rondo doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous usage data described above can't be used to identify anyone.
Deleting your data
Deleting Rondo removes its settings from your iPhone and resets the random number used for usage data. Your contacts stay in Apple Contacts, where they always were. Because usage data isn't linked to you, we can't look up the events from your device, but if you have a question about it, email us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If Rondo ever starts collecting more than the anonymous usage data described above, this policy will say so before that happens.
